CUSSES @ BUNKHOUSE LAS VEGAS MARCH 20th 9pm

Category: Events/Parties,Music

https://www.facebook.com/cussesmusic

Vegas dont let me down…

When I first saw this flier I was drawn to the images of band members covered with what seemed to be black paint and glitter and displaying the oh so pretentious collar pop. Then the band name, Cusses! Fuck Yeah!! I kept my excitement down only because a cool flier and band name don’t mean shit these days. Took a quick listen to their facebook page and I was hooked. Pure, Heavy, dark, rock ‘n’ fucking roll. I can see my self head banging and dancing till my sweat hits the person next to me. If I don’t see 100+ people at this show, Vegas dont ever wonder why good bands dont come here as much as you would like them too….- Noel Calizo

Biography
Cusses aren’t easy to define. However, whether their guitar driven, fuzzed out brand of music reminds you of The Runaways meets The Ramones or Siouxsie and the Banshees meets Jet, or even Pat Benatar with some heavy handed riot grrrl sass, it is impossible to come away with any other conclusion than this: Cusses are bringing back real, effortless, speaker-blasting rock & roll. A band that would be right at home taking center stage at CBGB.

Wikipedia says..

Members include Joshua Hodges (Waffles Wafuu), (vocals, keyboards, guitar, drums), Shawn Glassford (bass, keyboards, drums), Keil Corcoran (drums, keyboards, vocals) and Patrick Morris, formerly of Strength (guitar keyboard, vocals). Hodges describes the goal of the band’s music as “dance music that you can actually listen to, that’s good pop songs, but also you can dance to it.”[citation needed]
Prior to forming Starfucker, Hodges released a solo album titled Sexton Blake and followed up with an album released under the band name “Sexton Blake” entitled “Plays The Hits!” Both albums were released on Expunged Records. Ryan Bjornstad also played with Hodges in Sexton Blake, along with Ryan Dobrowski (now in Blind Pilot).
Starfucker’s song, “Rawnald Gregory Erickson the Second” (2008) was used in Target’s “Pink Pepto” commercial in 2009[2] created by the Portland ad agency Wieden+Kennedy and was selected as the AdWeek’s “Ad of the Day” on September 4, 2009.[3]
In the fall of 2009, they changed their name to “PYRAMID”[4] then “Pyramiddd”,[5][6] finally reverting to Starfucker in April 2010, although they may use the name STRFKR when touring.[7]
The band, and mostly bass player Shawn Glassford, has worn women’s clothing during performances and in their music video for the song “German Love,” directed by Rebecca Micciche. Along those same lines, the band chose the name “Starfucker” based on the curiosity of how far they could get “with a stupid name like that,” according to Hodges.[citation needed]
In 2010, Starfucker announced they would be signing with Polyvinyl Records, releasing a two-song EP, and a full album in preparation for March 2011.
Samples from lectures by Alan Watts are featured in the intros or endings of several of their songs, including “Florida,” “Isabella of Castile,” “Medicine,” “Pistol Pete,” “Mystery Cloud,” “Hungry Ghost,” and “Quality Time”.[citation needed]
Their song “Bury Us Alive” was featured in the 2012 film Chronicle.[citation needed]
Also their song “Rawnald Gregory Erickson the Second” was featured in the TV series “Weeds” when Andy and Nancy are in a minivan.
Their cover of Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” from Jupiter was featured in a Juicy Couture ad directed by Terry Richardson starring Candice Swanepoel in 2012.
The song “millions” off of their album Reptilians was played on the american version of the television show “Skins”
